Work Begins On Replica Viking House

A replica Viking house is to be located at the National Botanic Gardens in Dublin as part of the millennium commemoration of the Battle of Clontarf.

Work on the frame of the house, described as similar to buildings excavated at Wood Quay and Fishamble Street in the 1970s and 1980s, is already under way at the Irish National Heritage Park in Ferrycarrig, Co Wexford.

Eoin Donnelly, a forester and woodwright, has harvested oak, ash and hazel for the project.
