Visitor Access Management Plan for North Bull Island

06 Apr 2023

We would like to bring to your attention that Dublin City Council is proposing a visitor access management plan for North Bull Island.
Surveys of North Bull Island have shown that people walking in sensitive areas and dogs being off lead have caused significant negative impacts on the nature reserve.

Dublin City Council is proposing a visitor access management plan to combat these impacts. They intend to implement the plan from April 30th. The plan will be based on a voluntary code, which seeks to promote responsible behaviour, and will introduce zones as follows

  • Red: No Access
  • Blue: Dogs on lead
  • Green: Dogs off lead (except during Bathing Hours in the Bathing Season)
  • Bathing Hours: 11 am to 8 pm
  • Bathing Season: 1st June to 15th September

We would welcome your feedback on this proposal by email to clontarf.res.assoc@gmail.com.
You can also give feedback directly to DCC by email to parks@dublincity.ie or bullisland@dublincity.ie.
North Bull Island is a very special and unique place and it is incumbent on all of us to protect it.
