Vernon Ave to Clontarf Road Active Travel Project
)
Vernon Avenue has long been identified as part of the Coolock to Clontarf Active Travel Scheme linking the Clonshaugh Road to the Artane Roundabout and onwards to the Clontarf Road. Work on the section along Gracefield Road, Brookwood Avenue, Sybil Hill Road and Vernon Avenue to the junction with Seafield Road is currently at detailed design stage following public consultation in 2023. Further details can be found here.
CRA have been actively looking for improvements to the public realm in Vernon Ave and requested a meeting with the Active Travel Office prior to the consideration of any further extension of the route along the section of Vernon Avenue from Seafield Road to Clontarf Road.
In response to this request, the Active Travel Office held workshops on this route with members of the Disabled Persons Organisations, the Clontarf Business’ Association and the Clontarf Residents’ Association. CRA nominated 20 people, from different roads and with different interests, from around the area to represent them at that workshop. DCC presented a number of options for discussions ranging from maintaining the two-way system, to one-way systems up and down, to a two-way system with a pedestrianised area and the Clontarf Road section of Vernon Ave. The meetings identified various issues and opportunities with changes to this route.
The Early Engagement Report has now been made available to us and can be read here.
CRA would appreciate it if you would take some time to consider the various options presented and to share your views on these options by email to clontarf.res.assoc@gmail.com.
CRA will continue to work on your behalf to achieve the best possible outcome for the residents.
