Update on the Gracefield Road to Vernon Avenue Active Travel Scheme

As part of the detailed design of this scheme, ground investigation works will be taking place at locations on 
Brookwood Avenue, Sybil Hill Road, and Vernon Avenue, see image for precise locations. These works are due to take place between Saturday 28th March and Friday 3rd April 2026.  Lane closures and stop/go systems will be necessary to manage traffic and are likely to result in delays.  
 
Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March between 9am and 8pm
  • Cutting the roads/footpaths on Brookwood Avenue, Sybil Hill Road, and Vernon Avenue
  • Investigation works on the northbound side of Vernon Ave with a stop/go system in place between Blackheath Park and Mt Prospect Ave
Tuesday 31st March and Wednesday 1st April between 10am and 4pm
  • Works will take place on both sides of the Brookwood Ave railway bridge.  The traffic light at the junction of Brookwood Ave and Brookwood Rise  will be switched off and a stop/go system will be in place.
Thursday 2nd April and Friday 3rd April between 10am and 4pm
  • Works on the northbound side of Sybil Hill Road and roadway reinstatements will be undertaken.  
Permanent reinstatement works will take place in April and will involve temporary traffic management.
