28 Jul 2015

The Clontarf Yacht & Boat Club At Home regatta took place on Saturday 18th and Sunday the 19th of July, 2015.

Saturday brought a large contingent of Boats from Poolbeg, The Glen Class from Dún Laoghaire along with the traditional Howth 17’s from Howth. Strong winds provided exciting Sailing in the bay however the gusting winds proved too strong for the dingy sailing fleet and races were cancelled for dinghies on Saturday.

The rowers from East Wall Water Sports were not deterred by the gusting winds and rowed their skiffs along the seafront completing their race. Sunday brought more manageable winds and a massive fleet of both Juniors and Seniors in Toppers, Picos, IDRA’s Lasers and Fireballs which provided two good dingy races.

Both days finished up with pleasant sunshine and refreshments in the boat yard with music from Bryan Symth and Gerry Jago.

The Committee were delighted to grow the event this year with a team from Swords Sailing Club on the Estuary in Malahide and Juniors from Poolbeg Sailing Club participating.

It was also the first year the event has been opened to Juniors who brought great life and activity to the event.
