St Gabriel's Post Office Closure
We were sorry to hear last week that St Gabriel's Post Office closed its doors on Thursday 31st January 2019, following the retirement of the Postmaster. Notices in the window of the Post Office, outline that the closure is temporary, and the contract has been advertised. Should a suitable candidate apply to take over the St Gabriel's Road office, it will re-open without delay.
We would like to congratulate Alan and Peg on their retirement from St Gabriel's Post Office and thank them for the years of service. For now, all services have been transferred to Killester Post Office, which we understand will affect pensioners in the area who will need to take two buses to collect their weekly payments. We hope this is a temporary issue and will update readers if we hear any more.
Update: We would also like to highlight that Nolan's Supermarket has expressed their understanding of the inconvenience a lack of Post Office in Clontarf is having. A notice in store states;
"Thank you for all of your very positive feedback. We are aware of the current situation with the St Gabriel's Post Office and the serious inconvenience this is causing. Our future plans are being finalised and we hope to have some positive news regarding a post office facility in the very near future. Richard Nolan."
Please understand that at this time, there are no definite plans for a post office in Nolan's.
