Safety Message for Winter

With the clocks having gone back the evenings are creeping in much earlier now. With that in mind, An Garda Síochána have a number of messages with tips about keeping our property safe this Winter.

It is recommended that everyone saves the numbers for Clontarf and Raheny Stations (01 6664800 and 01 6664300) into their phones. That way if you spot something suspicious out and about you can call quickly and report it.

There has been a spate of thefts of bicycles from children and young teens in the area as well as from apartment complexes. Some of these have also involved physical assaults. These incidents can be very traumatic for those involved. Again, if you see anything suspicious please report it to the Garda.

There are simple things you can do to ensure the safety of your home. These include using timer switches to turn on lights, storing keys away from the windows and letterboxes. An alarm is also highly recommended. Essentially, remember to 'Lock Up and Light Up'.
