Protest on 29th April 2011 in relation to plans by Dublin Port Company
There was an excellent turnout at last weeks' protest which was held at Clontarf Rugby Club.
The club was the venue for the display by Dublin Port Company of their revised plans for Dublin port.
Once the group had gathered, it then moved into the main hall where the display was taking place. A number of residents spoke of their anger particularly in relation to the haste with which the Port Company had begun a new process, so soon after their previous application for a lesser infill was rejected by An Bord Pleanala.
Several of our public representatives also spoke including Finian McGrath, TD, Aodhan O'Riordain, TD, Cllr. Naoise O'Muiri. All of the speakers restated their opposition to the new plans. Also in attendance were Cllr Jane Horgan-Jones, Cllr Damian O'Farrell and Bronwen Maher, local envionmental activist.
