A message from Clontarf Residents’ Association:
We can all make our gardens, whether big or small, a better space for pollinators. Some simple steps include:
- Reducing mowing to allow dandelions, clovers etc to grow and create a short flowering meadow – but, avoid using wildflower seed mixes
- Avoiding using chemicals
- Planting nectar and pollen rich plants
- Adding pollinator-friendly trees, shrubs or a native hedgerow
- Creating nesting habitats for pollinators – but, avoid large bee or insect hotels
