North Star Taekwon-do turns on the style at the Dublin Open International!
Over the weekend of 16th and 17th April, the Irish Taekwon-do Association hosted the biggest domestic Taekwon-do event in the last decade in the National Basketball Arena.
Over 750 competitors took to the mats over the two days and with the European Championships starting on 28th April in Finland many members of the Ireland squad were in full flight with final warm ups including North Star’s Robert Campion Kennedy and Rebecca Mooney who depart for Finland on Tuesday 26th April.
North Star Taekwon-do club (Belgrove Boys’ School and St Brigid’s girls’ school) were in great form at the competition winning over 60 medals and finishing in a very impressive 2nd place overall. The coaches were delighted with the performances over the two days and praised the students for the hard work being done at their squad sessions. The results of hard work and dedication are paying off at North Star who finished in the top 3 clubs at the last 3 big competitions held in Ireland.
Pictures below show 11-year-old Emma flying high on her way to gold in junior special techniques (for a third time) while the boys Billy, Luke and Ray dominate one of the junior sparring divisions.
Best of luck to Rebecca, Robert and Adam, who head to Finland next week for the European Championships!
