New Tearoom Opening in the Red Stables - Thursday 2nd July!

29 Jun 2015

Clontarf has great news! A new tearoom is opening in the Red Stables in St Anne's next Thursday 2nd July.

From the people who brought you Moloughney's, one of our favourite local eateries, Olive’s Room will be open seven days a week, initially for breakfast from 9am to midday and for lunch and from midday to 6pm.

Liam Moloughney tells us their aim is to deliver a menu that promotes wellbeing:

'People who visit the park are generally active, they're looking to get out and enjoy nature, do some exercise or just spend a while in the fresh air - either alone, with the dog, or with family and friends. By doing so, they're looking after their wellbeing because they are taking time out to relax or exercise.

Likewise, we want Olive's Room menu to reflect the balance between the need for nourishment to be healthy and well and the pleasure of  enjoying a treat. We will only serve the best seasonal produce, Irish wherever possible, and so our menu will be quite short but hopefully with something for everyone, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.'

And so who is Olive? Liam explains:

'Olive’s Room is named for Lady Olive Ardilaun, one time owner, with husband Lord Ardilaun (aka Arthur Guinness) of St. Anne’s Estate. We decided to name it after her because they did much to build up the parkland at the end of the 19th century. We're delighted to have won the tender and look forward to working with the Parks Department of Dublin City Council on plans to develop and manage a kitchen garden that will supply the tearoom with much of its produce.'
