National Biodiversity Week - Don't Sow Let it Grow!

19 May 2022

You might be surprised to hear that sowing wildflower seed mixes can harm local biodiversity. Many of these mixes contain non-native species, and can accidentally introduce invasive species.

The best advice is to collect and sow seeds from local wildflowers.

You’ll find more information at https://pollinators.ie/wildflower-seed/

If you do decide to sow wildflower seed mixes, keep them to garden settings and ensure the mixes are native and from Ireland.

The All-Ireland Pollinator Plan strongly endorses natural regeneration of meadows
