'My Mother Said I Never Should' at the Viking Theatre

Charlotte Keatley play at Viking Theatre Clontarf

The second Viking Production, 'My Mother Said I Never Should' is coming to the Viking Theatre soon!

Opening on Monday 3rd September and directed by Laura Dowdall, it is the second in house production for the Viking Theatre, after 'The Weir', which Laura also directed.

The author, Charlotte Keatley, will come to Dublin to attend the new production of the play. Keatley's career, which has included writing for tv and radio as well as the stage, has also embraced journalism and the founding of a performance art company.

Unsurprisingly, she has Irish connections in her family tree - and distinguished ones at that! Her great, great uncle was the famous Trinity Provost, John Pentland Mahaffy, a great friend and associate of Oscar Wilde.

'My Mother Said I Never Should' is the intriguing title of the most performed play in the English language written by a woman. It explores the expectations of women through four generations and the choices available to them.

'My Mother Said I Never Should' is directed by Laura Dowdall, co-founder with Andrew Murray of the Viking, where it will run for two weeks before touring.
