Mick Clohisey Selected for European Half Marathon

29 Jun 2016

Clontarf's own Mick Clohisey has been chosen as one of the six men and three women to represent Ireland in the half marathon event in the European Athletic Championships next month. Mick has been a long time member of the Raheny Shamrocks Athletic club, and can often be spotted training along the promenade.

The Event

The half marathon event is the longest event in the European Championships in Amsterdam, and will take place in the morning of Day 5 of the competition (10 July). Although the half marathon is not an Olympic distance, it has become very popular as training towards the full marathon. This will mark the first half-marathon that has event been organised in the European Championships, but that in no way means the competition will be easy with 97 participants from 31 countries competing, including current record holder Mo Farah.

All of us here at loveclontarf.ie wish Mick, and all the Irish competitors, the very best of luck!
