Vernon Avenue Spar Displays County Colours

A warning to all good Dublin-loving denizens of Clontarf - Gus O'Hara of Spar has decided to publicly show his support for his home county of Mayo ahead of this weekend's All-Ireland clash against Dublin.

Gus has split loyalties recently with the kitting out of Spar on Vernon avenue with 50/50 county colours; one side of the shop in Mayo’s colours while the other with Dublin’s. Originally from Foxford, Co. Mayo, Gus has called Dublin his home since the late 70s. This explains the 50/50 divide of the shop. However, when asked what team will he be supporting this weekend, the owner, without hesitation says - Mayo! A special feature on Gus appeared in Mayo’s Western People this week and he also featured in a news article in the Evening Herald.

Competition

This rivalry becomes more interesting however - To back up his support, O’Hara’s Spar are running a competition which promises free wine! The terms are simple - if Mayo wins, O’Hara’s will give two free bottles of wine to the first ten people that visit the shop on Vernon Avenue. All you have to do is have your All-Ireland final tickets with you and you have to be wearing the Mayo jersey. For the Dublin fans, the conditions are the same - have the tickets and wear the blue jersey. However, the prize is a little bit different - one bottle of wine for the first ten people. Whatever the score, make sure to pop over to O’Hara’s Spar and see the display of support for either team with your own eyes.

They may be all smiles now, but that's sure to change come matchday!
