Local Clontarf girl Rebecca Mooney will be part of the Irish National Squad for the upcoming ITF Taekwon-do World Championships. The championships are taking place in Jesolo, Italy next May.

Rebecca is a student in Holy Faith secondary school and faces the very big challenge of balancing her studies for her junior cert with training for her biggest Taekwon-do challenge to date, the World Championships.

Rebecca, aged just fourteen, boasts a first degree black belt and has won three European Cup Gold to date. She is also an assistant instructor at Clontarf TKD in Belgrove Boys' School.

Rebecca has received much support from the local community. However, with all costs for the trip on the competitors themselves, Rebecca is currently looking for a sponsor. It would be absolutely fantastic if any local business in the Clontarf area were in a position to offer Rebecca some support. Local businesses that support this effort will be added to the Clontarf TKD sponsors and supporters page, and will also promoted on their Facebook page.

Clontarf TKD will also be organising some fundraising initiatives over the coming weeks. Rebecca's progress and World challenge can be followed on Clontarf TKD’s website and Facebook page.

The students, parents, family and friends of Clontarf TKD wish Rebecca every success in what we hope will be the first of many World Championships.
