Local Filmmaker Marion Bergin Debuts SWIMirl at Open House Dublin
As part of Open House Dublin, Clontarf native Marion Bergin—born and bred in Blackheath Park—debuts her latest short film, SWIMirl.
This beautifully shot, eight-minute immersive film explores Dublin’s renowned sea swimming spots, including the Bull Wall, the Vico Baths, High Rock in Portmarnock, and Clontarf Boat Club. The film highlights the deep connection between local swimmers and these cherished coastal landmarks.
Having grown up in Clontarf, Marion brings a personal touch to the film, capturing the essence of the community and the serene beauty of the sea. SWIMirl not only showcases familiar locations but also delves into the meaningful role these simple concrete structures play in the lives of regular swimmers. The film offers a peaceful journey through the sights and sounds of sea swimming, celebrating a tradition that resonates with many Dubliners.
The screenings will run continuously on Friday, 18th and Saturday, 19th October at the Irish Architectural Archive. On Saturday at 12:00 PM, don't miss a special talk where Marion, architect Robert Bourke, and producer Shane Hogan will share insights into the making of the film and the inspirations behind it.
