Local Derby in North Dublin Snooker League

11 Mar 2012

Not many of you will know but there is a Northside snooker league that is contested from year to year by up to 10 golf clubs that are located on the northside of the City, as far out to Balbriggan in the north of the county.

Our three local golf clubs, Clontarf, St. Anne's and Royal Dublin are regular participants although Royal Dublin are absentees this year due to refurbishment work going on in the clubhouse.

The good news is that the final tomorrow night (Monday) will be a local derby with Clontarf taking on St. Anne's in what is sure to be an exciting match. The neutral venue is Forest Little Golf Club beside Dublin Airport.

St. Anne's have already secured the prize of winning the league (for the first time in their history) but the big prize is the 'Shield' which is contested by the top four teams in the league on a knockout basis. Clontarf have dominated in recent years being regular double winners of the league and shield and will go into tomorrow night's match as firm favourites.

The captains of the two teams are Dominic Murray from Vernon Avenue (St. Anne's) and Conor Murphy (Clontarf). Best of luck to all, may the best team win.
