Local architect to feature on 'About the House' on RTE

05 Jul 2011

Local architects, GBA, are to feature on an edition of the very popular 'About The House' programme on RTE later this year. The programme has been running on RTE for 11 series, and is consistently in the Top 20 shows on RTE’s ratings.

Owner Gareth Brenan has told us that they met with representatives of the production company in early June.

"The producers met with the contractor and examined the drawings of the scheme and were very interested in featuring the project, which was subsequently agreed with the clients. The project will be the only project in Dublin to be featured in this series – all other projects will be outside of Dublin, in other areas around Ireland." explained Gareth.

The first day’s filming took place on Monday June 13th, where Duncan interviewed both the clients & the architect.

"It is intended that Duncan will visit the site 3-4 more times during construction, to meet again with the clients, architect & contractor, and discuss the project as it develops, with particular emphasis on sustainable elements of the design – energy efficient or energy saving measures which will be introduced both as part of the refurbishment and as part of the extension, such as substantial insulation, under-floor heating, triple-glazing, high-efficiency boiler, timber-frame construction, all of which will result in lower running-costs for the clients over the years to come." added Gareth.

The subject property is located in Glasnevin on Willow Park Grove.

It is envisioned that once construction is completed in late September, filming will then cease, and the show will be edited together for broadcast as an episode of About The House in October / November 2011.
