John McGahern Memorial Lecture
A special lecture will be held in Belgrove Boys School on Thursday 29th September, to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of the acclaimed Irish novelist, John McGahern.
As many of you know, McGahern was an inspiring character in his early teaching days a Belgrove Boys School, a post from which he was notoriously removed by Archbishop McQuaid, following the censorship of his novel "The Dark."
This lecture will take place in Belgrove Boys School Hall, Belgrove Road at 8 pm and will be presented by Dr Derek Hand, English Dept, DCU. The Clontarf Players will also perform a sketch on the night.
