Independent Survey Recommends Sea Wall Height Reduction!

12 Feb 2016

According to The Irish Times, the independent expert appointed by Dublin City Council to examine the height of the Sea Wall on the James Larkin Road has, in fact, recommended the wall height be reduced.

The Times reports that Dr Jimmy Murphy of UCC, has advised that the wall be reduced by 10cm-20cm in height.

Dr Murphy also said that demountable barriers, such as those in place in various UK coastal towns, were absolutely viable solutions as well as the glass panel solution which DCC had previously said would not withstand wave action in the lagoon.

Dr Murphy also noted that there were inconsistencies across the various design documents which were used by DCC to determine the height of the wall.

Dublin City Council have yet to comment on the report.
