Heartbreaking finish at Castle Avenue
The future of the Ulster Bank League is no longer within the control of Clontarf following a heartbreaking defeat to Dublin rivals, St. Mary's at Castle Avenue today.
Clontarf are now relying on what would be a surprise defeat for St. Mary's next weekend against Young Munster at Templeville Avenue next week. Even with that, Clontarf will need to beat Lansdowne RFC away on the same day.
The team could not be faulted for effort today and in particular, a nail-biting final 15 minutes, saw Clontarf within inches of getting over the Mary's line for what could have a game-changing try. It was the team's only defeat of what has been a fantastic season.
Here's hoping for the right set of results next weekend but there is no doubt that St. Mary's are now very much in the driving seat.
Thanks to all the local residents who answered the call and turned out in huge numbers to support the Bulls.
