Happy World Food Day!
Today, October 16th marks the 75th Anniversary of World Food Day!
The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations has decided that the theme for this year is ‘Grow, Nourish and Sustain. Together’.
So what can you do to celebrate this day and play your part?
Ireland depended hugely on the agricultural sector in the past and still does. If you have the option of buying goods from far away countries or Irish goods, buy the latter. Help sustain our farmers and buy locally.
Nolan’s stock a wide range of locally sourced ingredients. Their fruit and vegetables are supplied by Irish and specifically selected growers. Especially during these times, your small local shops need as much help as they can get, so why not celebrate World Food Day with them?
World Food Day is also about raising awareness for people who do not have enough food. If you can, why not help others by donating to food banks? The closest one to Clontarf is CrossCare Food Bank. They will accept all products from frozen foods to household and personal care items.
