The Five Lamps Arts Festival 2025 is bringing an incredible lineup of artistic and cultural experiences to Dublin, and we’re thrilled to highlight three standout events that you won’t want to miss!

1. Train to Sligo – Songwriting Workshop with Luan Parle

Aspiring songwriters, this is your chance to learn from the best! Join award-winning musician Luan Parle on an unforgettable journey from Dublin to Sligo for a full-day songwriting masterclass.

Whether you're new to songwriting or honing your craft, this workshop will cover song structure, lyrics, melody and performance. No instrument? No problem! But if you do play, bring it along. The day also includes a historic walking tour in Sligo, making it a truly immersive experience.

2. Paddy – The Life & Times of Paddy Armstrong

This powerful one-man show, starring the incredible Don Wycherley, brings to life the moving story of Paddy Armstrong, one of the Guildford Four. Based on his memoir Life After Life, this play reflects on his wrongful conviction in 1975 and his long journey toward rebuilding his life.

At 74, Paddy looks back on the past, grappling with memories of injustice and the strength it took to reclaim his freedom. With a stunning performance full of honesty, pathos and humor, this is a show that will stay with you long after the curtain falls.

3. Sightseers – Works on Paper by James Hanley RHA

Step into a world of art and history at the Casino at Marino with a stunning collection of drawings, sketches, and prints by acclaimed artist James Hanley RHA.

This exhibition explores statues and monuments through Hanley’s perspective, drawing a fascinating parallel between his travels and those of the Earl of Charlemont, for whom the Casino was originally designed. If you’re passionate about art, history, and storytelling through visuals, this is a must-see exhibition.
