Evening Lecture on Brian Boru
Clontarf Historical Society & Raheny Heritage Society invite you to their next event in the lecture series to Commemorate the Millennium of the Battle of Clontarf. The lecture is entitled "Brian Boru & his Dal Cais origins." by Dr. Cathy Swift.
Cathy graduated in 1985 from University College Dublin with a Double First in History and Archaeology and was subsequently awarded scholarships to the University of Durham where she did her Masters and Oxford (her doctorate); she also holds a master in early Irish language and literature from Trinity College. She is currently the director of Irish Studies at Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick. She is widely published in medieval Irish studies, on matters ranging from the introduction of Christianity to the taxation system of the eleventh century. Cathy has an article in the current issue of History Ireland (March/April 2014).
We are also delighted to announce the first introduction of Pete St. John's composition "March for Brian Boru" before the lecture.
The lecture is on Monday 10th March at 8.l5pm in the Clasac, Alfie Byrne Road. Doors open from 7.30pm for registration. Tea and biscuits afterwards.
