Dublin City Council is taking significant strides to ensure a safer and more efficient #ActiveTravelNetwork for its residents. The introduction of flashing amber arrows at junctions is a key part of this initiative. These arrows serve as a vital reminder to drivers that cyclists have the right of way when travelling straight through any junction. The council aims to reduce accidents and improve the overall safety of cycling in the city as part of the ambitious #C2CC Project, which seeks to create a more sustainable and safer urban environment.

In addition to protecting cyclists, Dublin City Council is committed to prioritising pedestrians and other vulnerable road users. A notable feature of the Active Travel Network is the implementation of continuous footpaths across minor side roads. Unlike traditional junctions where footpaths dip at crossings, these continuous footpaths remain level, signalling the priority of pedestrians and wheelchair users. This design not only enhances safety but also offers greater convenience for all pedestrians, including those with mobility impairments.

These improvements are part of the broader #C2CC Project, which underscores Dublin’s commitment to #ClimateAction by promoting sustainable and active travel options. Through these initiatives, Dublin City Council is paving the way for a more inclusive, safe, and environmentally friendly city.
