Dublin Array Offshore Wind Farm Project

06 Nov 2020

Plans for a Wind Farm, proposed for the Kish and Bray Banks, are currently being developed by RWE Renewables Ireland and Saorgus Energy.

According to RWE, “If constructed, it is estimated that Dublin Array could provide clean, renewable energy equivalent to the domestic needs of up to approximately 800,000 Irish households, depending on the final wind farm layout. It will help Ireland reduce our carbon emissions and enhance our energy security and reduce the need for imported fossil fuels.”

RWE is currently engaging with local stakeholders and running a non-statutory consultation to get feedback on the project that they can incorporate into the Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) and the final design of the project.

In light of Covid 19 restrictions, the consultation will be virtual.  An online portal displaying a virtual exhibition room will be used to show the photomontages and images depicting the potential view of the wind farm from a number of locations along the coast.  This portal can be accessed on www.dublinarray.com.  The consultation period will run until November 20th.

We would encourage residents to visit the site and familiarise themselves with the project.  We would welcome your views by email to clontarf.res.assoc@gmail.com so that we can include them in our response.  If any resident has particular knowledge or expertise in this area that they would like to share with the committee please get in touch – we really would appreciate it.
