Double Celebration this weekend in Clontarf

15 Mar 2012

This Saturday, 17th March is our national feast day, St. Patrick’s Day, and community participation is the central theme for this year’s St. Patrick’s Festival.

With this in mind, the Bull Island Action Group are looking for volunteers on St. Patrick’s Day to help clean up areas of the causeway, Dollymount Strand, the Bull Wall and the inner shore of the North Bull Island.  If you have time to spare and want to give something back to our community, view the link here for details.

Alternatively, enjoy a walk with friends, take in our coastline and help raise funds for Aware by taking place in their ‘Harbour 2 Harbour’ walk, also on Saturday.  See the full details here....

That afternoon, its a St. Patrick’s day showdown for Irish Rugby.  At 2pm the Women’s Rugby team take on England at Esher.  With a first ever shot at a triple crown after three home wins, this will be a challenging game with England the hot favourites to win.  Check out our news article with an exclusive interview with Women’s Team Captain Fiona Coghlan.

...Later, in the RBS Six Nations Challenge, Ireland face England at Twickenham.  Kick off is at 5pm....here’s hoping the luck of the Irish is behind both teams!

You can cheer the lads on at The Sheds, Harry Byrne’s or The Yacht Pub who will all be screening the match.

It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, 18th, so why not take all the Moms out for lunch at any of Clontarf’s restaurants, where you know you will be well looked after.  Treat them to a gift from one of Clontarf’s gift shops, or florists, or the gift of pampering, check out our business listings for some inspiration!

And for all those who want to really impress by cooking Sunday dinner, Nolans Supermarket is open on St. Patrick’s Day from 8:30am till 7pm, and on the day, they’ll be showcasing all the best in Irish food.

Looking at our special offer listings we can see that Hession Hairdressing have a Mother's Day special on gift cards, Mark Stevens Barbers and The Sheds have 6 nations specials and Doyle's Pharmacy have some gift sets for Mums.
