DIL Clontarf Sunrise Appeal!

07 May 2020

In light of the recent events and the global COVID-19 outbreak, the Darkness Into Light walk which was scheduled for May 9th has been postponed until the autumn. However, the services that Pieta House provide to people in suicidal distress cannot be postponed.

The DIL Clontarf Committee and volunteers should now be in their final days of preparations for the second annual walk here in Clontarf, but of course, the health and wellbeing of our nation are of the utmost importance, and so, we will wait until the time is safe, when we can walk together in solidarity and in hope.

To raise vital funds and awareness for the work that Pieta does, what Pieta is asking people to do, is wherever you may be, wake up with us at 5.30 AM on May 9th to watch the sunrise. Although we should be together in our thousands physically doing this, we can't, so let's come together virtually! Don your yellow and show solidarity with those impacted by suicide. Snap a sunrise photo or selfie and hashtag #DILClontarf and #DILSunriseAppeal.

And please, please donate whatever you can to at wwww.darknessintolight.ie. Without the funds raised by this event, all of Pieta’s services are now facing an immediate and devastating financial crisis. The need for Pieta's lifesaving services is greater than ever as COVID-19 impacts not only on the nation's physical health but its mental health too. The funds you donate today could mean that one more call can be answered to someone in suicidal distress, one more person can get the help they need when they need it, and one more family can be spared from the devastating heartbreak of suicide.
