Deirdre Heney Wins Fianna Fail Selection Convention
There was a bit of a surprise last night in Dublin Castle at the Fianna Fail selection convention for the newly created constituency of Dublin Bay North.
Councillor Deirdre Heney narrowly defeated Councillor Sean Haughey who had been tipped to win. Two other candidates, Aileen Woods and Councillor Tom Brabazon stepped out of the race to make it a straight head-to-head.
It remains to be seen whether Fianna Fail party HQ will add a second candidate and who that might be. For more details, read the story in today's Irish Independent.
