Cyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on Howth Road

A 62 year old man was killed in a hit-and-run collision last night at the Clontarf Road and Howth Road Junction. A silver coloured Volkswagen Golf was involved in the 6.30pm collision. Witnesses say the car failed to stop after hitting the man, who was taken to Beaumont Hospital and later pronounced dead.

The car was found in Marino and seized for technical and forensic examination. The scene was examined by the Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has been reopened.

Gardai are appealing to the driver of the vehicle, and to anyone who witnessed the collision or a silver Volkswagen Golf in the Fairview, Clontarf Road and Marino area between 6.15pm-6.45pm, to contact the incident room at Clontarf Garda Station 01-6664800, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
