Cluain Tarbh Healthy Club Spotlighted by GAA
In early 2020 Clontarf GAA were delighted to be accepted into the GAA Healthy Clubs Programme, a country-wide initiative from the GAA to help clubs support the holistic health of members on and off the field, as well as the communities they serve.
Of course, as we know, 2020 ended up being a year like no other, but despite the obstacles that the Club were presented with there was a commendable effort undertaken by members in regards to volunteering (helping vulnerable and elderly in the community) as well as numerous fundraising efforts.
In September, the Club felt that to really understand the needs of its members and the wider community, a consultation was needed. The outcome, which can be reviewed here, showcased that mental fitness and social inclusion came out on top as the areas of high importance.
Those involved in running the Clontarf GAA Healthy Club programme are currently working on plans for events and supports throughout 2021, the first of which is expected to take place sometime in February. Be sure to keep an eye on their website where updates will be posted.
The Club's efforts over the past year have not gone unnoticed, with a recent feature on GAA.ie spotlighting their work so far, which you can read here.
