Clontarf's Rebecca Mooney Travels to European 2015 Taekwon-do Championships

15 Oct 2015

After 3 months of preparation local Clontarf girl Rebecca Mooney is set to represent Ireland again at the European Taekwon-do Championships in Glasgow next week. Rebecca will compete in the micro weight division and will also line out in both the individual and team patterns events.

It’s been a year that has seen much success for the 15 year old from Clontarf and while hopes are high for another podium finish, Rebecca will face very tough opposition. The top 6 in the World in Rebecca’s sparring category are all from Europe and with the addition of the -50kg World Cup champion dropping a weight category to fight at micro weight in the Euros, this particular group is packed with potential winners including the 2 current World Champions.

Rebecca, currently ranked 3rd in the World this year, has prepared well for the Euros and received much support from her growing team and the Clontarf Community. Conor Shannon from BodyMed is now on board making sure Rebecca will be in tip top shape. Rebecca is sponsored for this campaign by The Vikings Steakhouse Clontarf with Clontarf business owner Donal Hanrahan of Elivar Sports nutrition also providing support. Rebecca took some time out from her busy schedule to meet David Dwyer of The Vikings Steakhouse (see above image) to thank him for his sponsorship.

We wish Rebecca and the rest of the Irish team the very best of luck at the European Championships and we will be checking in on www.facebook.com/ClontarfTKD for updates. Clontarf TKD thanks the local community and business owners for the continued support for Rebecca.
