Clontarfs Mick Clohisey Heads for Olympic Qualifiers!

15 Feb 2016

Clontarf’s Mick Clohisey, a long time runner with Raheny Shamrocks, will compete in the 2016 Seville Marathon this Sunday 21st February.

Clohisey is an avid marathon runner, and many Clontarf residents will have spotted him training along the prom the last number of years!

Following running in the Berlin Marathon last September, Mick landed himself among the top three Irish men to beat the Olympic qualifying time of 2:17:00.

Mick knocked two minutes off his personal best by running inside 2:15:35, and has been training fiercely ahead of the qualifying closing window of April, to improve his placing as competition is fierce!

After placing first in the AXA Raheny 5 mile at the beginning of February, Mick is currently in Portugal completing two weeks of intense training. He will head to the Spanish city of Seville at the end of this week where he will run the city marathon on Sunday morning.

On behalf of everyone here in Clontarf we wish Mick the best of luck, and have our fingers crossed for him, and hopefully we’ll see him on our screens in August, running in Rio!!
