Clontarf School Wall Bursts into Colour with Showstopping New Mural

Pupils returning to Greenlanes National School this autumn were greeted by a bright, cheerful new addition to their morning routine. The 20-metre wall leading up to the school gates has been completely transformed into a vibrant mural, packed with local landmarks, native wildlife and plenty of imagination.

The project was led over the summer holidays by artist and Greenlanes parent Anita Foy Hebib, with handy support from fellow parents who pitched in to help bring the vision to life. What was once a plain boundary wall is now a lively piece of local art for pupils, families and neighbours strolling down Seafield Avenue to enjoy.

"I wanted to bring a little of the local surroundings onto the wall, especially the flora, fauna and familiar landmarks, whilst also capturing the vibrant spirit of Greenlanes N.S." explains artist Anita Foy Hebib. "Hopefully it gives people a sense of the joy, imagination and character of the school before they’ve even walked through the gates".

School Principal Aidan O’Shea is equally delighted with the fresh new look. "It’s a feast for the eyes and certainly offers a warm welcome to young and old. It captures the imagination across all ages".

Greenlanes N.S. has been an integral part of our local community for generations. Founded in the 1890s, the co-educational primary school moved to its current site on Seafield Avenue in 1952 and today welcomes nearly 300 local children through its gates each morning.

Projects like this showcase the fantastic community spirit that makes Clontarf such a special place to live and grow up. A huge well done to Anita and all the parents who gave up their time over the summer to create such a wonderful gift for the school and the neighbourhood.
