Clontarf Rugby Success!

12 Nov 2014

Yesterday saw a vast amount of success for Clontarf rugby at the annual Guinness Rugby Writers of Ireland Awards.

Clontarf Rugby Club won the Club of the Year award following their historic All Ireland league win earlier this year. Founded in 1879, Clontarf FC is one of the oldest rugby clubs in Ireland. The team at loveclontarf.ie are ecstatic about their win and would like to congratulate all involved on what has been an incredible year!

As well as this, Clontarf native Fiona Coghlan (former Ireland Women's captain) was jointly awarded the Tom Rooney Award for her contribution to Women's Rugby. This is another major achievement and loveclontarf.ie would like to congratulate Fiona on her success.

We received this statement from Geoff Curran the Chairman: "This is a great acknowledgement of the success of our club and of the work put in by all of the club’s volunteers, together with the support given to us from our sponsors. It would not have been possible without the commitment of players at all levels, including minis and youths and the dedication from our coaches, managers and supporters alike. Clontarf FC is a true community club and we should all be very proud."

It has certainly been a stellar year for rugby in Clontarf. Let's hope that this winning streak continues into the future!
