Clontarf Rugby History Spotted in New Zealand!

07 Feb 2019

We were delighted this morning to receive a message from Aedeen Caplin, who is originally from Clontarf, but has been living in the Uk for the last 25 years and is currently based in New Zealand.

Aedeen visited the New Zealand Rugby Museum in Palmerston North, just North of Wellington, where she came across some Clontarf Rugby Club memorabilia of days gone by! The photo above showcases some newspaper clippings, a poster for Pre International reunion in 2005 marking 40 years with a game between Clontarf and Wellington Athletic Club and a reserved seat sign from the October 21st 1966 game between both teams at Castle Avenue!

The below photo showcases a wall of club pints, with the Clontarf Rugby bull pin with the founding date, displayed alongside some other Irish Club teams.

Many thanks to Aedeen for sharing this with us. We're sure there are plenty of rugby fans who will be interested to see a bit of Clontarf Rugby history on the other side of the world!
