Clontarf Residents Association's Successful Bike Upcycling Event

27 Oct 2023

Last weekend Clontarf Residents Association organised a bike upcycling and recycling event, collecting more than 100 bicycles. Many of these were suitable for refurbishment and were delivered to the Bike Hub or the Good Bike Project. The remainder will be recycled by Recycle IT. Many thanks to Lucy Feng of the Bike Hub for sorting out the good from the not so good, and to Recycle IT for delivering the bikes.

The Bike Hub is a social enterprise that uses cycling to strengthen civic engagement and stimulate economic activities while promoting a culture of inclusion, healthy lifestyles and environmental sustainability.

The Good Bike Project supplies bikes to asylum seekers in Ireland, supporting them to get to work, school and to get around.

Recycle IT is a social enterprise specialising in recycling electrics and metals.

Thank you to Clontarf Tidy Towns for promoting the event and to DCC Parks and Biodiversity for storing them overnight.

Hopefully, the refurbished bikes will be useful for getting folks to work and school all around Ireland.

A big thank you to everyone who donated their bike to this initiative!
