Clontarf Players Present The Plough and the Stars
The time is rotten ripe for revolution!
Clontarf Players are delighted to announce that after a successful run of 'Juno and the Paycock' last year, Clontarf Players will stage another O'Casey classic; 'The Plough and the Stars' this November 2019.
This tragi-comedy focuses on the lives of ordinary people in Dublin during the Easter Rebellion. The residents of a Dublin tenement shelter from the violence that sweeps through the city’s streets. A revolution that will shape the country’s future rages around them.

The Plough and the Stars was first performed at the Abbey Theatre in 1926. The audience rioted in the streets.
The play is now regarded as a masterpiece and is perhaps O'Casey's finest work. It also considered an essential part of our understanding of the events of 1916.
