Clontarf Does Strictly - A Huge Success!

26 Feb 2016

Last Sunday 21st February, the Crowne Plaza Santry was the location for the wonderful event - Clontarf Does Strictly! The event was organised by Clontarf based charity ‘To Children with Love’ (formerly ’To Russia with Love’), in order to raise much needed funds for the work they do in helping abandoned children in Ireland and Russia.

The event was a huge success and was completely sold out! 650 people were in attendance and it was live streamed and watched all over the world including New Zealand Australia, US, UK, Canada, Slovakia, Hungary, Switzerland, Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong. It was also streamed in local spots  Harry Byrnes The Sheds & Graingers Pebble Beach pubs in Clontarf and most importantly in the orphanage in Russia.  The team at ‘To Children with Love’ also heard people had Strictly parties at home while watching!  Marty Whelan was the amazing MC and the judges were Brendan O'Connor Linda Martin and choreographer Roisin Curran.

The standard of dancing was absolutely excellent as the dancers had trained so hard since the beginning of January, so it came down to a very close vote on the night. The winning couple were Ruth Brady dancing for our own With Love shop & Ronan O'Driscoll dancing for Sherry Fitzgerald.

The votes were based on a combination of judges votes, audience votes and the couples fundraising.  €31,000 will go to the charity as a result of everyone's energy time and commitment over the last six weeks.  We are so grateful to all of the dancers and businesses who took part to all of our volunteers and all of those who sponsored dancers.

The team would like to say a special thank you to all of the local businesses who took part Harry Byrnes, The Sheds, Pebble Beach, Bay Restaurant, The Edge Gym, Pigeon House, Fuel Food, Blackheath Archers, Moloughneys, DK Hair Design.
