Bull Island Beach Clean | June 2019

13 Jun 2019

The Bull Island Action Group Monthly Beach Clean Up for June 2019 will take place this Saturday, 15th.

Those wishing to volunteer are asked to arrive at the entrance to Dollymount Strand (just past Royal Dublin Golf Club) at 10:45 AM, in order to begin the clean up at 11 AM.

After signing-in, Saturday’s volunteers will be divided into three or four smaller groups. Each of these groups will tackle one of the following areas; the beach, the sand dunes, the inner shore, and the causeway. All groups will be led by an experienced Bull Island Action Group volunteer who is familiar with what needs to be done in each area.

Dublin City Council will provide a tractor and trailer, plus a driver, to remove and dispose of all the rubbish collected by volunteers. The Dublin Port Company will provide litter-picking equipment, such as litter-pickers, bin bag hoops, rubbish bags and gloves. An Taisce's Clean Coasts Programme is also a huge support to the group.

The weather for Saturday is set to be cloudy with no rain forecast. There will be a fresh breeze of 8 m/s from the south-southeast. The temperature is forecast to be 12 C so it will be a little cool. Sturdy footwear and thick socks are essential and rubber boots are always a good idea. Despite it set to be overcast, bringing suncream is a good idea too as UV rays can still permeate the clouds.

Why not bring a friend or family member along? The more volunteers the more work that can be done!
