The next Bull Island Action Group Monthly Beach Clean Up will take place on Saturday 21st May.
The details are as follows:
Meeting time: 11:00a.m. - please try to arrive 10 minutes early.
Meeting point: The entrance to Dollymount Strand, just past Royal Dublin Golf Club.
By Bus: Take the Route 130 bus from Lower Abbey Street.
Bus Stop: Get off at the Wooden Bridge - ask the bus driver - and then walk for 5 minutes onto the island.
Duration: Two hours.
Equipment: Litter pickers, bag hoops, rubbish bags, and gloves are provided.
Work areas: The beach; sand dunes; inner shore, and causeway.
Dublin City Council will provide a tractor and trailer, plus a driver, to remove and dispose of all the rubbish collected by volunteers. The Dublin Port Company will provide litter-picking equipment, such as litter-pickers, bin bag hoops, rubbish bags and gloves.
The rain forecast for Saturday is partly cloudy and no rain is forecast. It will be cool to mild with a max temperature of 13 degrees.
Wrap up well and wear a good waterproof jacket - just incase. Good footwear is also advised, thick socks and rubber boots are always a good idea!
Don’t forget to spread the word to family, friends and neighbours. Extra volunteers have a direct impact on the amount of work that can be done.
This month, the Bull Island Action Group are delighted to welcome back a team of volunteers from Royal Bank of Canada Investor & Treasury Services. This is their second consecutive year to help out down on Dollymount. They will be concentrating on tackling the litter problem on the inner shore. There will also be a return visit this month from a group of co-workers from PayPal, who will be focusing on picking up litter from the beach area and the sand dunes.
