Bull Island Action Group September Beach Clean Up
The Bull Island Action Group 'Monthly Beach Clean Up ' for September will take place on Saturday 19th.
September's big clean up is part of the 'Clean Coasts Big Beach Clean Weekend'. This initiative is organised in association with the International Ocean Conservancy. Last year, 560,000 volunteers in 91 countries removed 7,257 tonnes of marine litter from beaches during this event.
Thos wishing to volunteer are asked to arrive at the entrance to Dollymount Strand at 10:50 AM, in order to begin the clean up as quickly as possible, which will last approximately 2 hours.
Dublin City Council will provide a tractor and trailer, plus a driver, to remove and dispose of all the rubbish collected by volunteers. The Dublin Port Company will provide litter-picking equipment, such as litter-pickers, bin bag hoops, rubbish bags and gloves.
The weather forecast for Saturday is; Partly cloudy with no rain forecast. Light breeze -3 m/s from west-southwest. It will be cool with a forecast temperature of 8 degrees.
Bring a rain jacket just in case, and as ever sun protection is always advised, as well as good footwear/wellies.
This is a great way to make an impact in our community. Why not bring a friend or family member along? The more volunteers, the less litter on Dollymount Beach!
