Bull Island Action Group: Beach Clean-Up This Saturday

19 May 2023

Join Bull Island Action Group at Dollymount Beach this Saturday, May 20th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m to help keep our beach pristine.

Meeting Time: Please aim to arrive 15 minutes early as we start promptly at 11:00 a.m. Gather at the entrance to Dollymount Strand, just beyond the Royal Dublin Golf Club. Look for our storage container located behind the Happy Out Café. You can find the exact location on Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/DdgSt9PJowD2

Duration: The clean-up will last for approximately 2 hours.

Equipment: We will provide litter pickers, bag hoops, hi-vis vests, and rubbish bags. However, please bring your own work gloves for your comfort and safety. Hand sanitisers will also be available before and after the clean-up.

Work Areas: Our focus will be on cleaning the beach, sand dunes, inner shore, and possibly the causeway, depending on the number of volunteers. On Friday, we will assess the areas that require prioritisation.

DCC Support: Dublin City Council is generously assisting us by providing a tractor, trailer, and driver to transport the collected waste.

Weather: According to the forecast from https://www.yr.no/en, we can expect a cool and cloudy day with a light northerly breeze. The maximum temperature will be around 12°C.

Sun Protection and Attire: Applying sunscreen and wearing wellies or boots for comfort and safety is advisable. Bringing a rain jacket is also recommended, just in case of inclement weather.

Tide Information: High water is expected at 12:57 p.m. with a height of 3.93m. This means that we will be working as the tide comes in. You can find further tide details at https://www.dublinport.ie/information-centre/tide-tables/

This is a rewarding community event to help make a positive impact on our beautiful beach. Together, we can keep Dollymount Beach clean and enjoyable for everyone!
