Bring Your Friends and Family To Swords Fun and Fire Parade Friday 25th April

22 Apr 2014

As you know 2014 marks the 1000th anniversary of the battle of Clontarf.

To celebrate Fingal's rich Viking heritage and links with Brian Boru, Fingal County Council is planning a series of events under the heading 'Swords 1014'.

A Viking fire parade takes place through Swords Main Street on Friday 25th April and two-days of family fun are also planned on 26th and 27th April with a Viking Village in the town park of Swords Castle that includes battle re-enactments, archery and falconry demonstrations, an exhibition on "The Vikings in Fingal", talks for children on Viking life, and the 'Big-Dig'; a hands-on activity that explains what it is like to be an archaeologist digging for ancient treasures and remains.

Why not join them and bring family, friends and visitors for an exhilarating trip back through Fingal's history.

Get into the spirit of the things by coming dressed as a Viking or Irish warrior.
