Beach Clean Up Saturday 15th February

13 Feb 2014

The next beach clean up will take place on Saturday 15th February 2014.

Ideally, the Beach Clean Up team would like to send a crew of eight or so volunteers down to the causeway end to work on the inner shore. They have reported that this is is particularly heavily (and visibly) littered following the recent storms and high tide events. It is essential that you wear boots and clothing suitable for rough and soggy terrain to work in this area.

The team have also asked us to mention that this month they are delighted to welcome volunteers from Bull Island's kitesurfing community who will be helping them. The kitesurfers have brought a huge amount of colour, activity and vibrancy to Bull Island and would also like to thank François from Pure Magic for his support and work in the background on this initiative.

Meeting time:   11:00a.m. - please try to arrive 10 minutes early.

Meeting point:  Dollymount Strand entrance, just past Royal Dublin Golf Club.

Dublin City Council provides a tractor and trailer, plus Gerry the driver, to remove all of the rubbish that we collect.

They really do appreciate receiving as much help as they can get. Bring a friend or a family member along with you. They will get some exercise, lots of fresh air and give us some much needed help. Many hands make light work.

Please see the expected weather and tide information for Saturday below. It will be cold, rainy and windy so it is recommend that you wear warm, waterproof clothes. Good footwear is essential and rubber boots are always a good idea.

Finally, if you are free, please join them afterwards at 1:15pm for a hot drink and snack in Clontarf Yacht & Boat Club. They intend to have a brief planning and strategy meeting for 2014 and to allocate responsibilities.
