Battle of Clontarf - Fact or Fiction - What Really Happened

As the Millennium of the Battle of Clontarf fast approaches, we are delighted to inform you about an upcoming half day seminar on Saturday 9th November 2013 at the Clasac, Alfie Byrne Road, Clontarf.

Three world renowned experts on the subject will discuss "Fact or Fiction? What really happened at the Battle of Clontarf".

Dr Clare Downham, University of Liverpool will speak on  “Viking kings and kingship at the time of Clontarf 1014 ”, followed by Charles Doherty, University College Dublin on the topic of “Irish kings and kingship at the time of Clontarf 1014”.  

The morning will finish up with a lecture by Dr Séan Duffy, Trinity College Dublin on “Who fought who at the Battle of Clontarf”. Prof Duffy has recently published a book on "Brian Boru and the Battle of Clontarf".

The half day seminar forms part of a Series of Exploratory Lectures entitled "Battle of Clontarf – where it all ended!"  We are delighted to have His Excellency, Mr Niels Pultz, Danish Ambassador to Ireland launching our event.  Registration commences at 9.15am followed by the launch at 9.30am.

We would like to thank Comhaltas for providing us with a fantastic venue in the Clasac. 

There is a charge of €10 that also includes morning Tea / Coffee and lunch (soup & sandwiches).
