Battle for the Bay returns to Clontarf this May

16 May 2012

battle for the bay dollymount kitesurfingWe are delighted to let you know that our friends in Pure Magic have brought the Battle for the Bay back to Clontarf for the 7th consecutive year.

The event takes place again on Dollymount Strand on the weekend of the 26th and 27th May. As usual, kitesurfing is the main event but this year there will also be the inaugural Stand Up Boarding (SUP) Classic.

SUP is becoming very trendy around these parts... so it could be a bandwagon worth jumping on....

The Irish kitesurfing community will be descending on Clontarf in huge numbers and we would like to extend a warm welcome to them once again this year.

The event itself is the brainchild of local businessman Francois Colussi who runs the Pure Magic kitesurfing stores in Clontarf and on Achill Island. We managed to grab a few minutes this week with Francois to find out more about this national event... and he also explains what a great event this is for spectators too.

There will be a prize awarded to the 'King & Queen' of the kitesurfing event, and lots of raffle prizes so that everyone gets a chance to take home a souvenir.

Family fun during the day with bbq and music and a chance to try out the new Stand Up Paddling boards (SUP).  Nightime is strictly for adults when the 'Pure Magic' Night party kicks off.
