RTE Election 24

At just 26 years old, local Clontarf resident Barry Heneghan secures his seat in the Dáil. Barry is one of the youngest TDs to enter the new Dáil, marking a historic moment for his campaign team and supporters.

Barry claimed the fourth seat in his constituency, with Naoise O'Muiri (Fine Gael) taking the third and Tom Brabazon (Fianna Fáil) following in the fifth seat. Earlier in the day, Cian O'Callaghan (Social Democrats) and Denise Mitchell (Sinn Féin) were also elected.

All of the three main parties would have fancied their chances of taking a second seat at the expense of Labour. However, Barry’s exceptional performance in transfer votes helped him secure a seat, making it one of the strongest transfer performances in the country.

Speaking to RTÉ following the announcement, Barry expressed his gratitude and shared his vision for the term ahead. You can watch his full interview here.

Congratulations to all the elected candidates on a hard-fought campaign.
