Alfie Byrne monument on Clontarf Promenade to be decommissioned by Dublin City Council
The Irish Times are reporting today that Dublin City Council are planning to remove the Alfie Byrne monument from the Promemade in Clontarf.
For those of you unfamiliar with the monument, it is a memorial seat/bench that is located near the junction of the Alfie Byrne Road and the Clontarf Road. It looks out along the bay of Clontarf but had regularly fallen victim to vandalism over the years.
Alfie Byrne served as Lord Mayor of Dublin ten times and is one of the most highly regarded Dublin politicians of the last century.
